Riverwalk haters
The folks at Park Lane Condominiums Association are not happy about the planned continuation of the Northbank Riverwalk that will eventually stretch to Memorial Park in Riverside. The group has made their concerns known to the mayor’s office and feels that continuing the Riverwalk would have an adverse effect on the historic buildings along the river.
This blurb was in the Jax Daily Record and it is the most retarded, anti-Jacksonville thing we have heard all week. The Northbank Riverwalk, or any portion of Riverwalk for that matter, is the tasty crust of our river’s lucious pie filling. Who doesn’t like pie? Everyone loves pie, right? Except the pie-crust haters at Park Lane Condos.

If by saying “adverse effect on historic buildings” they mean that the public will have access to the river and the view that the Park Laners already enjoy from those historic buildings, then I say bring on the Riverwalk.
Some people in this town need to realize that the river belongs to the public, not just to wealthy owners of near-by property.
Thats old skool outrageous.
Park Lane is past Memorial Park. That would be like them saying not to run it to Met Park. The Riverwalk is a park in the parks department. This would thusly be a park reaching another park.
And your name, darling, is PARK Lane.
“We’d hate to see someone walk from here to the Cummer or the sports complex for that matter with river views and breezes, and not having to even see a motorized vehicle. We’re vehemently opposed to our property taxes being raised by such a damn good ammenity.”
I could see resistance by the existing towers between the parks, but I think the city, like it has in all other places on this project will work towards an agreement with each property owner even if its (gasp) a condo association.
The riverwalk is GRAND.
There are no historic buildings lining the river between I-95 and Memorial Park. Cummer Gardens is the only thing worth mentioning and the museum supports the riverwalk extension.
Park Lane sits just to the south of Memorial Park, while the riverwalk would end, on the northside of the park. It appears Park Lane’s residents believe the riverwalk will bring “rift raft” to their hidden urban oasis and that’s what all the commotion is about.
With that said, bring on the construction equipment and lets get this extension wrapped up ASAP.
But according to the Mayor the people of Jax want more access to the river and more park space. These people must be kidding us right?
We feel like camping out by the Park Lane condos and finding out how many residents actually object to the River Walk extension.
It’s not like they are opening a drug rehap and sexual offender safehouse next door, geesh….things could be worse.
Talk about an adverse effect on historic buildings, you could be Springfield, douches.
I think you mean the springfield dueces (firetruck)
The Park Lane has not taken a position on extending the riverwalk!
