The Job Corps building in Springfield is up for public auction. The auction will take place on August 16 at 10:00am. There will be three open house events: today July 18th, August 1st and 15th. The open houses start at 9am and end at 1pm.
If anyone is heading down there, be sure to take some pictures and send me links to the pictures if you put them online. I will post them here. Also let me know how you want credit for the photos.
How do I bid?
The auction will be held at the Jacksonville Public Library on August 16th. If you want to bid, you have to register and put down a $75K deposit (Holy shit! serious bidders only I guess). If you win you have to complete the Offer to Purchase form (PDF). In the end, your deposit will be applied to the purchase price.
Within 10 days of winning the auction, the GSA office must receive an additional amount of at least ten percent (10%) of the winning bid. Total payment due in 60 days.
So what, how do I find out who wins?
After the auction you actually have to call the GSA sales office. Contact Elizabeth Dawson at (404) 331-9611 or
send an email to Elizabeth.Dawson@gsa.gov.
This concludes how to buy a building at a government auction.
