That’s what the sign says at 215 Laura Street. The sign also says the following:

Open in November or thereabouts. That is if the Building Renovation Permit applications are all approved and we don’t run out of money.

Ha ha ha, such brutal honesty. Chamblin’s Books claims to be the largest independent used and new bookstore in the world. I don’t know how accurate this claim is, but I will be glad to see the day they open downtown.

When Chamblin’s Uptown does open they plan to offer new and used books, audiobooks and dvd rental and sales. The two level bookstore will feature an espresso and coffee bar with sidewalk seating and tables within the book store. Chamblin’s Uptown plans two have a second level of the store open in early 2007.

This will be a great addition to DT. Did anything ever happen with the building that bookseller bought at the corner of Hogan & Adams, or is it just storage?

They kicked a tenant out in a unit that faced Hogan and put in a poor looking used book shop. Other than that, the building is being used for storage.

Chamblins, on the other hand, will be a great addition for the Laura Street strip. Now we need to get the city moving to do something positive with the Snyder across the street.

it will be interesting to see how the city (i.e. Parking Facilities and Enforcement) will respond to ron chamblin. the man will not be fucked with. if PFE bends to anyone on improving the parking situation, it will be him.

Why can’t the city gov create a “fast track” program for downtown permits as part of city “incentives” to spur downtown growth? Time equals money in a lot of cases, I would think that would be attractive to business owners and developers. People trying to open businesses in Downtown should not have to complain about how long it takes to get a permit. Maybe we need a downtown “Czar”.

They fast tracked all the permits in the “Entertainment” district leading up to the Superbowl, but in any other context that would piss the other sides of town off to the nth degree.

Might I add it is even more of a pain going through the DRC, making it a much longer and strenuous process.

Someone said that Chamblin Bookmine claims to be the largest book store in the world. Actually, the truth is that they do not claim to be any particular size. There are larger book stores existing in other parts of the U. S. A., although only several, but there are not many with the quality of Chamblin’s title variety.
