Urban Jacksonville

I have been wanting to feature Hogan Street for a while. Hogan Street is my overall favorite street in Downtown Jacksonville. Why? Texture. It has the skyway track running the length of the street. If you stand at Bay Street and look North down Hogan you can just feel it is a great street, the gentle upward-and-to-the-rght slope of the street gives it a feeling of life.

You also have Hemming Park, City Hall, the Federal Courthouse and the Jones Bros Furniture building. My favorite thing to do on Hogan is to haul ass down the street. It probably does a number on my shocks and alignment, but you can really feel the pulse of the street as you drive down it.

So Hogan Street has my vote for favorite overall downtown street. It also, by default, has my vote for favorite Northbound street. Favorite South, East and Westbound streets coming soon.

What’s your favorite street and why? And don’t say Laura, that’s too obvious.

It's hard to argue with Hogan, for all the reasons mentioned above, but I like E. Church, as well.

Adams is my favorite walk-able street. Every block has something great:

London Bridge/MCR
Haydon-Burns/Burrito Gallery
The Carling/Chew

It's just south of Hemming Plaza, so you're also within spitting distance of Boomtown, the library, and the skyway.

Not that I suggest spitting. It's actually quite unattractive.

And I thought I was the only one. Hogan street is the most super coolest we have in Jax. I always stop on purpose to use the ATM on it when going out DT.

that's my favorite street too! honestly, everytime we'd drive on it i'd say "this is my favorite street."

Hogan is my favorite street as well, since about 200 kids charged up and down it on go skate day! the enclosure of the street from the tall buildings around give it the most "big City" feel and the echo of all the skateboards like killer bees was cool too!

Mine?

Adams Street.

Why?

Because its about the only street left in downtown, with a good number of historic fabric still left (at least between Julia and Ocean). Its like stepping back in time, or being transported to a place where urbanity is the norm, rather than the exception.
