General Awesome at 7th and Main, Springfield
The only thing scarier than The Pierson Twins is The Landing during Florida-Georgia weekend. If you love drunk frat boys head down to the Landing this weekend. If not you can check out these pre-Halloween events.
- Anomoly 5-Points: Friday the 27th – Art show/party at the store from 6-9 PM. New art going up by Kelly Eason, drinks, and 10% off all merchandise.
- San Marco Theater: Friday the 27th – At 11:59 a screening of 2000 Maniacs in 35mm will kick off this very special weekend. The story is a hilarious riot inspired by brigadoon. It’s been one hundred years since the town was destroyed during the civil war and the ghosts of the town have come back to life to trap unsuspecting yanks to be a part of their revenge festivities. More Info and the trailer.
- 9th & Main: Saturday the 28th – The entire complex is being turned into a haunted house! DJ Christian Mendez spins in the Bay and Julius Airwave plays in the Black Box Theater.
The Jax Beach Dark Art Celebration. Friday October 27th. 8pm-1am 40 exhibitors. Sea Walk Hotel. 117 First Avenue N, Jacksonville Beach, 904 249.9981. Two floors and 6 rooms of art, food, liquor, beer, wine and candy. Featuring art by mactruQue, Shaun Thurston, Heather Blanton and Max Michaels.

The Two Mirrors call it quits
Take this survey and shape the future of Downtown Jacksonville (Thanks Tony).
Metro Jacksonville has a great post on Springfield’s past and present, titled Springfield: The Northbank’s National Register Historic District. It features am extensive photo tour and a timeline starting at 1869 and going up to 2003.
1977 The Springfield Neighborhood Plan was produced by the Jacksonville Planning Department. As the first comprehensive analysis of the area since its nadir in the Sixties, one important outcome of this report was a successful downzoning movement. This restricted further commercial intrusion into the residential streets.
Tomorrowland has joined San Marco Health Foods. Awesome! I hope my post has encouraged others out there to give it a try. Basically it is an organic produce club located in San Marco. You pick up your random assortment of fruits and veggies once a week. Read the Tomorrowland post and my original post for more information.
