Santa Paws is this coming Saturday the 16th from 1:00pm till 5:00pm on the patio at Main Street Restaurant. Pictures with Santa Paws are $10. Proceeds will benefit Springfield Animal Care and Rescue Club (SACARC). SACARC rescues and place homeless dogs with loving families. They are dedicated to spaying and neutering neighborhood stray dogs and feral cats while raising pet awareness & education throughout Historic Springfield.

The Daily Record says It was announced Friday that the Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council will present a new outdoor film series at the new-and-improved Klutho Park. Details are still in the works, but one film will be shown in February and the schedule will be expanded in the spring. I hear the first movie will be The Money Pit. How fitting.

Springfield advocates want in on Downtown growth
Jennifer Holbrook, a marketing consultant who is working with SRG presented the results of a demographic study that determined that 73 percent of Springfield’s residents are between the ages of 25 and 54; 53 percent have bachelor’s or advanced degrees and 93 percent are “very” or “somewhat interested” in Downtown cultural, entertainment and sports events.

Also at the meeting, Hallmark Properties Principal Alex Coley presented an overview and update of progress in Brooklyn. He said half of the 150,000 square-feet of office space his firm plans to build has already been committed and construction will begin within eight months.

Flog reports on the unanimous (15-0) approval of Suzanne Jenkins’ downtown parking bill. Flog goes on to list things to do during those new longer meter hours. Meter times are expected to be extended from 1 to 3 hours. Here’s my itinerary for the new longer meter hours.
