I won’t cast a vote for any District 7 candidate whose single largest campaign contributor is Chris Hionedes. Hionedes is one of the biggest delinquent property owners in all of District 7. Despite the fact that Pellino claims “that anyone who contributes to my campaign has not bought or sold me“, I’m not buying it.

Martha had the chance to set the record straight about how she planned to deal with delinquent property owners here on UJ. We asked each of the District 7 candidates the question:

Derelict and unkempt propertied are a real problem all across district 7. How would you, as a council person, help motive absentee owners?

Pellino declined to answer this or any of the other important questions we posed about District 7 neighborhoods. On the Met Jax forum, she does respond to the issue of contributions, but still neglects to address the topic of handling delinquent property owners.

Here is another good reason I found posted on the SPAR message board by Lisa Simon:

Mary Farwell, who works for Chris Hionedes has already stated to a Springfield resident (she did not realize who this person was) that his (Hionedes) intention was to keep the area blighted because he was not finished buying and did not want the property value to get any higher.

YIKES. This could be rumor or hearsay, but I don’t think I want to take that chance. It’s entirely possible that Pellino had no idea what she was getting into when she began taking contributions from Hionedes. All the more reason to stay away from her. Here is how Pellino’s contributions break down based on this post from the SPAR message board:

Pellino has $5000 contributions from Hionedes and his various businesses (note all same address 2275 atl bch ) with a max contrib of $500 each! Given that her total contributions are ~ $12500 from others (than her own loan of $12500) hionedes has funded almost HALF of her campaign.

Not to mention the picture above. How about picking up some District 7 trash while you are putting up your campaign litter on one of the many delinquent Hionedes properties?

The more current 'in the field' pics during the recent campaign were not at all as attractive as the one used in her metjax profile.

...and to think I'd actually wanted to know what brand of shampoo she used.

I totally agree with Phil and Johnny!! VOTE FOR PEDRO!!!! One thing I don't get is this. If she says that she is independently wealthy and cannot and will not be bought then why didn't she try to avoid this fiasco and give the money back? Does she really think that all of us from Springfield are that stupid?

Martha Pellino is very bad news and has no interest in helping the people of that district. She is polarizing and speaks about diversity but could care less unless your hispanic. She has no interest other than lining her pockets and getting pay offs!

IF his intent really is to devalue the neighborhood's commercial properties and buy while they're cheap in order to make money when he is holding all of the cards (or property), couldn't he be prosecuted under RICO?

Glad that I'm not the only one left wondering about this connection..... frankly I think she dodged the question posed on metjax re.. how she would handle Hionedies and then attacked DTP as her detractor.. Guess UrbanJax is now on her hit list too! I have to agree though, this guy is why we're going nowhere and to think that HIS candidate might be our representative is frankly pretty damn scary! Much scarier to me than Lockett-Felder could ever be.

Good Job keeping it real Joe! I do want to make one correction though, Martha did answer that question. I sent it to you about 9 days after we had asked all of the candidates to have the answers back to us.

In District 7 there are many absentee property owners who do not live in the community as well as those who live on their property but have failed to keep the property in good condition required by law. These buildings and homes have become an eyesore and unsafe problem for the people who are restoring the community. I would work with the Code Enforcement Division of the city to make sure that these buildings and homes comply with the City Ordinances. According to the City Ordinances and Code Enforcement, if property does not meet the requirements, the absentee owner and the owner who lives on the property that is derelict and unkempt, is charged $250.00 per day. I do not think that this property owner would want to fall in that category. There are other options such as selling the property to someone who will restore and rebuild. "

scumsuckingslumlordfromthestinkingdepthsofhell is well known in Springfield. Truly a putrid puddle of festering fly-blown diarrhea on a hot summer day.

And no one in the city has the balls to stand up to him. I envision our leaders taking his money at arms length, careful not to be seen standing next to the little man, so as not to be associated with slumlords. Listening to his mouth-shit, then rolling their eyes amongst themselves afterwards.

And unfortunately his stink has wiped itself onto Mrs. Pellino, who is a nice enough person when you talk to her, but obviously does not have the experience or responsibility to be our councilperson.
