yeah. i was thinking of completely taking the shoe apart by cutting all the sewing thread, then using the individual pieces of fabric or leather as a guide, then using the new fabric and putting it back together. i really know nothing about sewing or clothing construction, so i have no idea how possible this would be.

I wonder if your idea would work? I've really only seen ways to reconstruct flip flops and slippers. There are a lot of people that turn their chucks in to sandals or mary janes, basically cutting out fabric. Somehow I don't think that's what you are after...

Shoe making is a class I would love to have. I am still looking for a teacher. I wonder if Gus and Company on Laura has anyone that could do a class or workshop? Does anyone have experience with them?

i noticed that you are considering shoe making. i've ofter wondered about buying a cheap pair of shoes, taking them apart, using the fabric as a guide and making my own shoes out of some cool fabric. have you run across anything similar to this? would it be something someone could teach?
