Double J, Josh Jubinksy, posted this earlier this week:
A while back I posted about the corn field on the corner of Park and Forest. Well I met the farmer, Brett, and his son, Chris, yesterday. He uses the nearby building as a art studio. And that old florist shop? His wife is planning on opening a mexican restaurant in that space. He talked about bands playing, and movie projections on the side of his studio. When I get back into town, I’ll be talking with him alot more and letting you know all about it.
Damn Brooklyn is cool again. Well it was already on it’s way. With the access to the Northbank Riverwalk and art shows at Jane Grey how could it miss? One thing Brooklyn will need is some dense residential housing. Right now much of the property on this small strip of real estate between Downtown and Riverside is industrial. That may change with the much anticipated Brooklyn Park development and the possibility of JTA running the trolley service from Downtown into Riverside along Riverside Avenue.
In the future Brooklyn could quite possibly be on of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city.

I’d love Brooklyn to be uber-cool - sandwiched between Downtown and Fivepoints, it has the potential to be one of the edgiest neighborhoods in Jax.
Unfortunately, it still needs some serious TLC before it gets there. All those overpass fly-overs lend themselves to transient communities, a couple of which I accidentally stumbled upon after a detour from my normal jogging route.
I agree, Brooklyn Park and a greater police presence in Brooklyn can definitely turn that area from scary to edgy in just a few years.
