I hate posting on top of other great posts, but when you have an awesome new contributor like I have, I guess thangs like that happen.
If you’re in the Baymeadows area Friday afternoon stop by the Screened in Porch show (map) at the Art Institute. Here’s what Levi, one of the artists, says:
If you’ve been to any of the art shows we have been in the last year, then the work at this show probably won’t be anything new to you, but I was excited to see everything I have done recently displayed all in one show, and Kendrick’s two posters just about equal the rest of my work! (kendrick 2 posters = levi 5 posters, two paintings and 10 skate decks!)
Most of the work is either screen printed, inspired by screen prints, or stenciled in some way and it was most likely done on my screen porch or garage!
Boomtown opening
If you’re not in the Baymeadows area but you are Downtown, stop by Boomtown. There is a gallery opening tonight for the last show ever at Boomtown. (Map) Stephen Dare contacted me and said:
I really do want you to see the pieces. I’m not going to be showing them for long…..the 9th is our last day, and its a fucking cool show.
Yes you read that correctly, the 9th of June is the last day for Boomtown. It will be reopening at some point in the future, but not in it’s current state. Stephen also said this is one of the most controversial shows he’s done in a while. Believe me, it’s sure to offend some and delight others.
I’ll have an interview with Stephen Dare next week. We talk about the pieces in the current show, the closing of Boomtown, retirement and what the future holds for Stephen and Boomtown. I also have photos of all the pieces from the show and I’ll put them on Flickr sometime this weekend. If you miss the opening tonight, be sure to stop by during art walk this Wednesday June 6th.
Opening at Bogda (Map) this weekend too. Saturday June 2nd.

If you still need more, keep reading till you get the Adrienne’s interview with Brendon Clark, TSI’s booking and promotional manager. And if you don’t have anything to do this weekend, it’s not our fault.
