Nicky G’s Pizza Update
08/03/07 • Posted in: Downtown Jacksonville, Retail by Joey Marchy 12 Comments »Thanks to Mike Maloney for sending this update on Nicky G’s:
Getting a little hold up from the Division of Hotels and Restaurants. Hopefully in a few more weeks we’ll have the doors open. The window decals are on and the sign will be up in the next couple of days. We poured our concrete yesterday so the only big project left is putting our hood system in.
There’s also a club going in next door, we’re working a lot with them. We’ll be providing all of their food. We’ve also begun talks on a possible take over of the alley to turn it into a little party strip. We’ll see how that goes, I’m pretty confident we’ll get it done though.

does anyone know what sort of club is going in next door?
i think it’s a place called UTI.
Seriously? Urinary Tract Infection?
I am so boned up for Nicky G’s!
It’s going to be called Metropolis I believe. I’m not exactly sure what type of music. I think Hip Hop / R&B, but I’m not 100% sure. I will find out though. I’m pretty sure it is going to be more of an up-scale type place. I will give the owner a call and try to find out though.
Glad to see you guys are still boned up for Nicky G’s. We are working our tails off to get it done. Things would have been going much smoother if we didn’t run into The Division of Hotel’s and Restraunt’s hold ups. I think we smoothed everything over though, so we are back on track. We are going to do everything we can to open up this month. Once we get opened and settled in, we are going to start pushing the Bay Street Town Center project, so hopefully we can get everyone on board for that as well.
Also, if anyone would like to come in and lend a hand, we would be more then happy to have you. We have plenty of help, but we have found a lot of people just want to be involved. So if you would like to come in, put some bricks on the bar or something and snap some pictures of you doing so, we are all for it.
One last thing. Brendon, we came by to see you the other day, but you weren’t there. If you still want to talk, let me know. You can hit me up on my cell, 334-9869, if it is easier. That’s goes for anyone who has questions or comments. Thanks again for all the support.
Mike
This is all very exciting.. I got to Mark’s every weekend, and every weekend we have a group of about 6-10 people with us, and we’re all hungry.. So what do we do?? Eat the hotdogs from that consession stand. We’d much rather pizza, and somewhere to wind down!!
When is this opening??
David,
We open to open within the next few weeks. The floors and gas piping are being done this week. Then we can put all of our equipment in. As long as we don’t get held up too long on the health inspection, we will be good to go soon. Like I said before, it is taking a little longer then planned, but we want to make sure everything is right and we are doing 80% of the work ourselves. We will be open very soon though. Come in and check on the progress if you would like. We are starting to hire as well, so if you know anybody that is looking, send them our way or have them give me call. 904-334-9869.

Geez… all this fuss over a new pizza place? (Sorry, I’m still trying to adjust to life in Jacksonville). I hope the pizza is yummy, and the new “club” is nice. Can anyone tell me which other restaurants serve late (after 11pm), if any at all?
Megan,
If you are talking about Downtown, there are no options that I know of that server past 11pm. It’s possible that London Bridge at Ocean and Adams does.
Megan, the burger king stays open late…..and you can get great coffee at the Shell gas station that’s on the corner of State and Main. It’s even a popular hang out in the evening for all the locals.
Just an update. We fired up the ovens for the first time today and made some pizza. We had guys from the fire station come down as well as some of the businesses in our block. We pumped out 35 pizza in an hour and had nothing left at the end of the day.
We are getting very close. Our plumbing, electrical and mechanical final inspections are scheduled for next week. As long as everything goes well with that, we will more then likely open the following week. I will keep posting the progress. Thanks again.
Mike
The time has finally come. We will be opening the doors Monday, October 22nd. We are currently taking catering and tail gaiting orders for Fl/Ga.

I can also email a menu to anyone who is interested. Our email is nickygspizza@yahoo.com If you would like a menu or to set up an order, you can email us as well.
