If you were anywhere near Bay Street Friday night you probably picked up on some outrageously pleasant vibes.
The Jaguar Club and Casper and the Cookies opened for happy-fun-pop-band Elekibass at TSI.
Hailing from Tokyo and sporting top hats and kazoos, Elekibass proved that good pop music can still make even the tightest of uptight take it easy and tap a foot.
The combination of the band’s incomprehensible lyrics and ridiculously cute pop melodies on stage created a charming carnival-esque environment for their 30 minute show.

Midway through the set, the dance floor became a melange of hilarity and dizziness when the Japanese four-piece paraded through the crowd conducting a sing-along to the song Kimiha Koidorobou.
I think the two encores were a decent indication that the crowd was digging Elekibass. Who knew the world’s happiest sounds come from Tokyo?
Here’s hoping TSI will bring this righteous band back again.
Here is some video of Elekibass from the show at TSI.
