Car crashes into JaxCore / Art House
08/21/07 • Posted in: News, San Marco by Joey Marchy 15 Comments »UPDATE: Thanks to anonymous, car crashed into the building.
The roof at the JaxCore skateshop has totally collapsed. So much so that stuff is spewing out of the front window and on the street. I caught this picture as I was driving by. At the time there was a single news crew setting up. No additional details at this time. Leave a comment if you have any details.

wow. i wish the best for the skate shop guys and for art house. insurance sucks.
man, that f’ing sucks– i hope all works out for them. I hope they catch the dude who did it and sue the shit out of him.
the accident occurred at around 10:00pm last night. the shop was indeed struck by a car. in addition to the damage at the skateshop, a second vehicle (a green van) collided with the tennis courts across the street. you can see the damage in the fence, as well as the tire tracks in the grass.
the story’s here http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/082107/met_192977220.shtml

i’ve been told that jackrabbits is planning a benefit show to help the guys out.
Sue him? He is probably some piece of white trash that has nothing.
A year ago when Vinlyl Frontier was in the Arthouse space, a group of coke dealers started yelling at a group of my friends for no reason, then proceeded to shoot a gun in the air. They were later caught and arrested.
I guess that block is prone to such crazy events.
JJ- yes, he probably is judgment proof in that respect, which makes it all the more sad for jaxcore. I heard benefit party at the Pearl?
I got to say goodbye to Chris and friends last night while they were finishing packing-up the last of Jaxcore’s stuff last night…As their newish neighbor next door in ARthOuse, I’m still a bit shocked about the freak accident. To say the least, it’s awful that their business was ruined by the wreck — and right now I’m praying that ARtHoUSE doesn’t fall too. Best of luck to Jaxcore & friends, and the rest of the businesses trying to make it on this block.
So the skateboard shop is done? That is, in all seriousness, a damn shame. That people’s hard work and their living could be ruined by a freak and senseless accident is very unfortunate.
I need to apologize for the comment I made. Apparantely, the dude is black not white. Therefore, not white trash. Apologize if anybody was offended. Goodbye.
Thanks for all the support. Now our “hole in the wall” skateshop is an actual hole in the wall. Someone told me that life is 10% of what happens and 90% of how you deal with it. We will recoop and hopefully reopen another shop soon. Both Jack Rabbits and the Pearl agreed to do a benefit to help us out. I havent spoken with Tim from Jack Rabbits about a date but the Pearl benefit should be in the next three weeks. I will try to get as much word out as possible. Once again we appreciate all the support we have been getting. Have a great day…
Jaxcore,
Any thoughts of maybe being willing to open up on Main St in Springfield? I know of a couple of affordable locations…
As much as I love Springfield, I think Main St would been even less profitable and attractive (not aesthetically, but business-wise) than where they were in San Marco.
