Details are limited right now but Stephen Dare, Boomtown owner, signed a lease yesterday for a space on Main Street. The building is located across the street from the old Boomtown location between 7th and 8th streets.
Right now we know we know the building is located to the South of the Surfside Furniture building on the East side of Main Street. This is another Hionedes owned property. It looks like Hionedes is staying true to hi promise to develop more of his properties, like 5th and Silver.
Stephen just posted this about 10 minutes ago on the SPAR forum:
Boomtown has signed a lease with Chris Hionides to reopen operations back in Springfield. On Main Street No Less. Its a pretty awesome thing for us, as many of you know we are springfielders, and wanted to remain on Main Street in the first place.
The rents were way too high and the cost of renovating the buildings on top of that were just coming straight out of fantasyland, and we had to make the decision to relocate downtown. Where we had to deal with the kookoo parking philosophy.
Things have changed since then, thank God. We have taken a few months off, and are opening a little bistro in San Marco very shortly, but we signed the lease yesterday for the Main Street location and started moving stuff last night.
Its going to be a long slow road to china, just like our first theater here, bear with us and we cant tell you how glad we are to be back.
Looks like Main Street retail is back. Inertia soft open on Friday!
