Bizzare Market @ Inertia

Josh from Inertia posted that Heartworks in 5 Points will be closing.

Between investors pulling out, coolers breaking and a general lack of business – Elaine Wheeler, Heartworks owner, has called it quits today. A sad day indeed.

A sad day for Jacksonville and a sad day for 5 Points indeed, but what about all the vegans? This could be devastating to them. Not only was Heartworks one of the only restaurants to offer a mostly vegan menu, they did a damn good job with the food. My only gripe with Heartworks was the amount of time it took them to prepare the food. I had spent anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour waiting for food. Maybe that was one of the reasons they couldn’t hang in there.

I don’t blame them for throwing in the towel. This town isn’t a very friendly place for small business and the rents in 5 Points aren’t getting any smaller. So what’s a vegan to do in this town now? If you’re vegan, can you send me some of the other places you plan to eat? I mean I know this isn’t the only place in town to eat, so what are your other options? Maybe Inertia will need to increase the number of vegan potlucks per month.

I wonder what the new 5 Points Buzz blog will have to say about this? Any insight guys?
