There are two Halloween events going on in Springfield this weekend (that I know of).

Nightmare on 9th Street
This is a SPAR fund raiser that features food from the Burrito Gallery and music from Triclops I (Ian of ShantyTown Pub). There will also be Halloween movies, a costume contest and prizes. Party with ghosts, goblins, ghouls, monsters, muppets, pharaohs, phairies, superheroes, superstars, wizards, and of course, zombies.

Spooky Springfield ChildrenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Festival
October 28th head back to 9th and Main for the Spooky Springfield ChildrenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Festival. There will be pumpkin decorating, a costume parade, a moon bounce, carnival games, face painting and food. You had me at moon bounce!

Springfield All Hallows Eve Safe Houses
Springfield Mommies Group is organizing a list of Halloween Safe Houses for all of the trick or treaters to visit. If you sign up you will receive a sign to post in your front yard that signifies you are part of this program and a map with all the houses on it. The map with all the houses will also be posted on the forum and the website. If you haven’t signed up to be a safe house by now, it’s too late.

I checked and at this time no maps have been posted. If someone can post a link to the maps in the comments for this post, that would be rad. Or email me and I’ll update the post. Moon Bounce!

It's lovely to see everyone really getting into the spirit of things. Just this morning I was coming in from work and I passed a whole group of gentlemen dressed to the nines in classy dames' getup! I tell ya, sometimes you start to lose a little faith in ye olde spr and then the folks just pull out all the stops. I stopped to wish them an early "Happy Halloween" and congratulate them on their outstanding costumes and two of them offered to get into the car with me and give ME candy!

I was like "Oh you guys, you're too much!" but I guess the bmw behind me was in a more festive mood because he let one of the fellas into his car. I just wanted to turn around and remind him that we're still a few days off but you know, some people really get into it.

I agree with Adam B. Hard pack is better. I don't know about your kid, but mine likes to use left over packaging for storing bugs and money. Soft packs just won't do...

The preliminary map for the Halloween Safe Houses is on www.springfieldmommies.com, the link is under the "Halloween Safe Houses" box. The map won't be final until October 30th. Thanks to all who participate and come out to trick or treat!
Just sayin

Put me on the map for a safe house. I am already stocked up with plenty of treats for the kids: Marlboro Reds in the soft pack were 3 for 2!
