Urban Jacksonville contributor Brittni Wood will be having her first solo show this Friday, November 2, at the Jane Gray Gallery in Brooklyn. There will be free beer and wine for the opening reception.
Cross-PolliNATION an exhibition of Brittni Wood’s abstract paintings. Wood’s paintings are heavily influenced by social issues of today, with an emphasis on ideas of religion, sexuality, and gender roles. “My work is forced into a slue of contradictions” says Wood.
Wood’s paintings entertain opposite ends of the spectrum, from gestural and dirty to hard and graphic. This combination is what interests her most, while also inspiring a mixed media approach to her paintings.
Most of all Brittni is an awesome artist. I have four of Brittni’s paintings at my house and hope to pick up some more Friday night. Come check out one of Jacksonville’s hottest new artists Friday night.
Cross-PolliNATION will be on exhibit 11/2/07 thru 12/3/07
