Sneak Peek of Martin Moore/Jason Wright show at Burrito Gallery
03/04/08 • Posted in: Art, Downtown Jacksonville, Events by Joey Marchy 9 Comments »Correction This is a joint show with Jason Wright (the udder guy below) and Martin Moore.
There is something very special going on at this month’s Art Walk (Wednesday March 5th). The Urban Core has been hyping it all month. As far as I can tell the biggest thing going on is Lackawanna Carriage Works playing in Hemming Plaza. C’mon Tony, tell us what’s up buzz-meister!

If you can’t wait till Wednesday, here’s a sneak peek of new Martin Moore/Jason Wright show at the Burrito Gallery. The paintings are super-affordable, so get down there and buy one before they’re all gone!

Art Walk Wednesday, buy art for a good cause…You!
Downtown is RAGING inferno of fun

The udder guy is Jason Wright who is also part of the show at the BG. Both guys have amazing work and are collected all over. Its a good deal but also an investment.
THe big surprise was boat rides free, guided by the riverkeeper and free parking in the new garage across from greyhound. I thought that was enough but in this town if you give someone a fifty they will complain its not 100. I don’t care! Because I am going to have a blast anyway. And so are you! If the boats are over popular we’ll have to do it again. Save the St Johns!
Thanks for the clarification on Jason Wright. Is that the only piece Jason has in the show?
I’m excited about the Sarah Crooks-Flaire collaborative piece with DASOTA students. I hear that’s supposed to open at the Main Library this art walk. Also, some of the folks helping us with the community garden have some installations there. Sean from Rink Design made this trio of screws out of tuna cans…Architects rock.
Jason has a ton of stuff up. I am showing a selection of his and Marty’s on the morning show at 7:15 or so. The Local Station.
I am bummed I will miss LCW at Hemming but I may be able to catch the second set.
Nothing agaisnt Tony, or BG, both of whom/which I hold in very great respect, but Marty Moore is a fucking creep. He deserves no publicity and no attention. Plus, he totally plagarizes his “style” from other, more established artists. In short, he is a shitbag of the highest degree.
I’m looking forward to seeing all the friendly faces tonight when we play!
Tony,
I must say that its pretty timely (for me any way) that part of ArtWalk this time around was centered around the river experience. I grew up basically on the water (up north) and I must say that for us, the health of our lake (and the surrounding wetlands) was/is always of paramount concern.
Here though, I somehow tend to overlook the value of the river in favor of the ocean…but when my father visited for the first time this winter, his first response was to the river. He couldn’t believe how close it is to my house, and, that access to it is fairly public. It forced me to reconsider the things I value in my community…and to start scheming on finding my own old (boat) hulk to sand and varnish back to life.
Anyway, though I didn’t get to take a ride, I will next time and I love the idea.
My husband and I have had two shows with Martin Moore and his work is as original as any artist’s we selected to exhibit. We have shown several artists such as Saiman Chow, Alan Forbes and Arron Marshall.
We carefully accept work on a juried basis with my hsband and myself as well as our staff and feel confident and proud to have show Martin’s work and look forward to a new show in 2009.

Re-”Jaust Sayin,”
You obviously do not know Marty all too well. You sound like a bitter person with a non-exsistant art background who can’t make it locally or abroad! Instead of writing silly comments why don’t you just slit tour wrists and be gone? I mean really who uses the word “Shitbag” ??? If your art is anything like your 5th grade paragraph, when your mother had you in her womb she should have invested in a coat hanger!
