Not just bg. But thanks! I was onced asked what I thought DVI could do to help downtown retailers. I said open some tabs. Also I don't know if it is suggested you park in this garage, but if so then the beauty of our streets and retail establishments are as easily avoided as a JAGS game or a weekday for an executive in the modis building with a river club membership. But its not the events fault. It will be fun. I think that any event with short term toilets yield short term results, usually at the expense of long term tenants. But I sound like a complainer which I am not. Just speaking from a bit of experience. And as you point out maybe its a driver of biz. Viva la downtown.

Tony- Great points. I never even thought of this party as drawing away from the glory that is BG. Maybe people will be starving for some good food and will hit up the the BG afterwards. I know Emily and I will be eating dinner there that night to-- sorry "the Hill" blogger-- celebrate finishing my last exam of the semester. And, if it is any matter to you, when Emily asked me what I wanted to do to celebrate being done, dinner and drinks at BG was my first thought.

I am out of town through the parking deck party but will be supporting my ingreedy ants. I would post this on the urban core but since tmonile and Blogger don't play nice it will have to be in joeys (THX!)
I love comments!
I have these comments and suggestions on the deck party in support.
1.there are other ways to support the few but proud on the ground retailers other than competing with them for beer and entertainment sales.since it is new and will attract folks I don't have a problem with it. But as we saw in the worlds biggest party as a great case study... it doesn't automatically help business and nightlife on the ground.
2. Where did the money come from and where will the drink sales go? I would rather monies go to the jmodern than on publicly subsidizedish competitive parties. Or sponsor the party at an existing taxpayer/retailer. The pool deck at any of the downtown hotels are similarish in ambiance in a tax payer setting with visitors to boot. You could go wild and have it in a leased space which would support 2 stakeholders directly.
3.DVI used to be the agency to do these type things. Are they farming it out and why? Where was the rfp?
4. Best of luck. As someone who has spent taxpayer and Stakeholder monies frugally yet effectively (I think) with both the mayors office and DVI I can tell you with confidence that there is nothing More exciting and satisfying as seeing it work and downtown grow.
5. It is absolutely wasteful to print anything with events on it when you have experiencejax.com.
6. Being in Toledo makes me yearn for the resort that is Jax! See you soon! And thanks Joey for allowing comments!

The parking garage party is a cool idea, and sounds exciting. Kind of a sucktastic time frame, though.
