Haverty’s renovations on schedule (Daily Record)
Downtown Winn Dixie ready to show off (Daily Record)
On an editorial note, the new Downtown Winn Dixie is the bomb. Srsly. Go check it out but stay away from the wing bar, not so good. Good beer and wine selection, along with nice assortment of organic produce. They have, in my opinion, improved the customer experience by a factor of 10. Everyone was super happy and friendly, however I expect that to wear off once the new store honeymoon is over. Let’s just say Winn Dixie made it a lot easier on me to go there instead of drive to the Riverside Publix.

Downtown Transit Enhancement Meeting Announcement (via The Urban Core)
On July 17 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm there will bet a public hearing for Phase One of the Downtown Transit Enhancement. There is no word on what the enhancements will be so you’ll have to go to find out. Or if you know, please leave a comment. Thanks to COJ/JTA for having an afternoon session for the working folk.
City Hall - Committee Rm. A 117 West Duval Street Open House at 4 pm; presentation at 6 pm.

The transit enhancements are basically JTA’s final Bus Rapid Transit routes stemming from last years studies and debates. The new BRT line parallels the Skyway on the Southbank, ignoring Baptist Medical, Aetna and Nemours and undermining the usefulness of the Southbank skyway route in the process.
On the Northbank, the first phase of BRT runs down Jefferson and Broad Streets. As a part of the project, JTA will improve the streetscape and lighting on these streets, as well as beautify the Acosta Bridge.
The best thing is that BRT is no longer being considered for Adams, Forsyth, Bay or Philip Randolph. Instead JTA will soon roll out revised trolley routes to better serve the core. You can see these routes, as well as the new BRT route here:

TSI Update
Cited as an unsafe structure by the City, Club TSI on Bay Street was forced to close its doors late last month. The bright orange official notice on the door says the building needs to be brought up to code or run the risk of being demolished. However, a handwritten sign next to the notice said repairs are being made and Club Manager of Bookings and Promotions Brendon Clark said the upgrades should take about a month.
The downtown Winn Dixie’s produce is better than most Publix stuff, that is for sure. The only problem I’ve had is with outdated perishables (eggs, cheese, milk) available for sale. Of COURSE I usually check, but sometimes in a hurry… know you.
