Hope the show rocked. Didn't mean to rock boats. I think Diplo is great and am happy he played. Was really only commenting on the fact that the Grammy's suck and are a giant JOKE that I didn't think anybody really took seriously anymore. (while Daft Punk won the Dance category this past year, it was good ol Justin Timberlake taking home the statue for Best Dance Recording in 2007). No offense meant, but if you think the Grammy is the "highest" honor in music, you need to get your research on! (hint: start with hip-hop and proceed to Jay-Z)

But what about the fact that the sound at TSI is enough to kill the show?

saw diplo twice, regretted seeing diplo twice. the dj sets and albums he releases are never anything like what he does in person. from what i hear, unless he really wants to be somewhere it just sounds like some late night 92.7 mix show, where its a bunch of the shit you hear on the radio
doofus hipsters will prolly go nuts hearing t-pain 'i'm sprung' and a bunch of plies poorly mixed

Don't confuse the internet with real life. There will be people enjoying themselves all over town despite what complaints and chicken feed are spread online from the vocal whine-ority. If you can't have fun in this town and you go out and try its not the town. But I don't begrudge anyone leaving. There is a sweet world of new ideas out there. Send em back to Duval. Message boards and comments are whack anyhow. Computers are a flash in the pan!

last i checked, boogie, that pretty much sums up the general consensus attitude you'll find in "scenes" almost anywhere you go. jacksonville just has no real excuse for it.

i am starting to believe this city will never come together. pretension and elitism rule this city now and that's sad. people are way too concerned with their perspective to take others perspectives into consideration.

Wow, come on Jacksonville. We get a great producer coming through and people still complain about it. LAME. If your into this type of thing you should support it.

Grammy or no Grammy, that be Bury Your Bike II weekend!

How is "Grammy Nominated" a turn-off? A Grammy is the highest honor there is to receive in the music biz. A ton more people know who M.I.A. is now because of the track on the Slumdog soundtrack. Far, far less know that Diplo is the producer of said track. Those that love the track but don't know the producer would probably love to come out to this show if they knew. Why am I arguing about this anyway?

Might have to come down from Atlanta for this show.

well, sure are some assholes out there. i'm pumped as hell to see diplo at a fun place like TSI. my question: about what time do you think he'll be performing? i can't really afford to take the night off of work, which means i probably can't get there before 11. would i still be able to see a great show?

It should be a crime to bring such a talented performer to such a subpar room. The sound in TSI will leave you regretting you every paid to walk into the place.

I'm hardly a clueless Promoter or Designer. I've been trying to bring Diplo to Jacksonville for years now.

For those that know who Diplo is and what he has done, an advertisement isn't even necessary.

However, some information makes the connection for some people who would otherwise look over this event.

Does Grammy Nominated mean anything to anybody who would actually go to this show? Like, "oh shit, Diplo got nominated! I'm down!" Seems like more of a turn off. Clueless promoter/designer? Plenty more great stuff to put on a flyer about the guy. His stuff consistently rocks for sure...
