Sandy,

Many people in this city feel the same way so I can sympathize with the way you feel. It won't be easy to get out of this predicament, especially in light of the past spending habits.

In my opinion we need to look at the future, not the past. There is such a thing as sunk cost an no amount of finger pointing will get that money back. All we can do now is focus on not throwing good money after bad and look for the next mayor who can lead our city into the future.

Thanks for your comment.

You can dole out money for Palm Trees, Light Poles that no one wanted, or was asked on Rogero Road and Main Street. What a waste of good money, and now you want MORE, You need to do a budget like a real working family has too..... How about getting back money from a company hired to do work that never did any work, you wouldn't do that with your own family money!!!

@polkadotz since demands on public works are growing with "ever expanding" roads, trash pickups, etc streching us thin, why not institute Urban Growth Boundries like Portland? We need to check our growth now, it has been out of control for too long.

Re: Public Works topic of Mayor Peyton's first chat

Also in this paragraph shouldn't property and sales taxes be flipped:

Peyton also will be taking questions on the city's revenue structure, such as why next year's budget needs a property tax increase instead of a sales tax increase that would spread the need to all residents, not just property owners.

Also in this paragraph shouldn't property and sales taxes be flipped:

Peyton also will be taking questions on the city's revenue structure, such as why next year's budget needs a property tax increase instead of a sales tax increase that would spread the need to all residents, not just property owners.
