I’m promoting three events this week of which I’ll either be attending or participating in. I’ll start with Friday and the Urban Jacksonville + Thought & Theory Mixtape party, then move to Thursday’s Lightboxing event at Refresh Jacksonville and work my way back to Tuesday’s Urban Jacksonville Weekly with guest Terry Lorince of Downtown Vision.
Urban Jacksonville + Thought & Theory Mixtape party at the Burrito Gallery w/ Economy of Comedy hosted by Nick Costanza
I’ve talked Tony into letting me Dennis and I host these parties once a month at the Burrito Gallery (thanks Tony!). It gives us a chance to share some of the newest (and best) music we can find on the Internet.
A lot of DJ’s play what the crowd wants to hear, because that’s what they get paid for. Dennis and I play what’s new and what we thing you should be listening to next. You can get a link to download this Urban Jacksonville Mixtape before I post it on the blog, so be there and ask for the link.

Lightboxing at Refresh Jacksonville
The Lightboxing bout opponents have been announced: Sean ‘Dog-n-Pony-Punch’ Tucker and Russel ‘The Muscle’ Quadros.
Lightboxing pits two designers against one another to create designs based on a particular theme, from products in a lightbox. The lightbox contains 6 images and/or typefaces.
The rules are simple: make something great. Use any software you want. Crop. Cut. Paste. Use filters. Fight dirty. Write copy. Make a knockout design. Judges then comment on the designs and choose a winner, using a highly sophisticated and completely subjective scoring system, based on originality, effectiveness, and gut reaction.
