Wish I could be there. More events in this direction should happen, to the point where it's not even a rare occurrence--just what the folks do.

I love this concept-- I think it's a wonderful way of connecting the origins of food to the meals we fuel ourselves with on a daily basis. I just wonder why their research of seasonality didn't lead them to arriving in northeast Florida at an abundant time of year? Most farmers in this region have very little to offer right now and usually sell out pretty quickly at the weekly market. Promoters of local food should also be teaching the realities of seasonality so that the message is not misunderstood. The problem is the grocery store mentality that we can get whatever we want, whenever we want it. It's not an easy shift to make and must be constantly reinforced, especially by those educating about local food. I would bet that a good amount of food at local farmers markets right now is actually trucked in and we need to help consumers learn the difference if we ever hope to make any change.<br>Again- super cool event! I just don't want the awareness to get blurred. Thanks for making it happen!
