Went to KC in early Oct with the COC. KC Community Foundation gave a great talk on "strategic" philanthropy. Based on their 2 strategies -- life sciences and collegiate-level education -- it seemed their philanthropic focus was on that which could result in economic return for the city/region. If that is what KCCF meant, the arts and culture in Jax definitely fits into the strategic philanthropy category!

My heart is leaping with JOY! Seeing the power of creativity to ignite energy, inspiration and love, blows me away.

AIGA JAX has been instrumental in creating this energy! A little ball got rolling at the Jacksonville Library two years ago with a mentor program with a bunch of open hearted designers and it served to inspire all sorts of efforts. This proves to me that with each individual action, other actions will happen if fostered!!

Let's keep the creative energy rolling and may each of us do our part to fuel it!!

Thanks Joey for bringing this to light!

In tough these economic times, nonprofit organizations are often the hardest hit, yet they do some of the most influential work. It's inspiring to see so many Jacksonville creatives giving back to the community. Design can truly be a catalyst for change.
