Sorry, one more comment. To say that "neighborhood stakeholders were also involved" is partially true as only part of them were involved. SACARC reps were shown the option you have a few days prior to the community meeting. We were not shown an option that left the dog park in place until the whole plan (option A & B) was presented at the community meeting. One person involved with the Skate Park planning was also in attendance for the overall presentation and expressed that his group had not been consulted and seemed to be displeased with the Skate Park section. The response was that HDR needed to get something on paper and that the plans were preliminary and not set in stone.

There are two options planned for Confederate Park. The plan you show moves and shrinks the dog park. Springfield Animal Care and Rescue Club (SACARC) and the Springfield Improvement Association and Woman's Club (SIA/WC) worked with the city for several years to bring this dog park to fruition. SACARC does not agree with the plan to relocate and shrink the dog park and has expressed the same to the developers of these plans the night they were presented to the community. The plan option not shown leaves the dog park in place but relocates the basketball courts and playground, making the dog park larger.

Joey, we went over these plans last night and as far as we can see, this is one of the worst and most boneheaded ideas ever to come out of springfield. Suburban cul de sacs, the removal of the rose arbor, the destruction of the Klutho Balustrade, the costly relocation of the dog park, the demolition of buildings that don't belong to the neighborhood, passive space use in an urban setting (disastrous, incidentally) and the complete ignorance of both the natural topography that Klutho's design replaced as well as the toxic materials that would become a literal threat if ever drenched in water. The design includes cool ideas. But the layout and the assumptions are dreadful.
