A group of nonprofits rallies for a daytime center for Jacksonville’s homeless. This could help clear downtown of drifters as the city embarks on a multimillion-dollar upgrade of Laura Street.

The Mayor is supportive of the daytime homeless shelter
Peyton also called for community to work towards turning the existing Duval County Courthouse into a future convention center. The site, which will be vacated when the new courthouse opens, is on the St. Johns River and adjacent to the downtown Hyatt Hotel.
