Jacksonville should be really happy with this new Art Galleries. After all we all want out town to be 'up-to-date' with the new and interesting stuff that is out there in the world. Even if your advertising something there are new ways to do that and having an Art Gallery is superb. I used to blog and send e-mails to friends to come to something new in town till i found pop up display stands and my job got really easy, i mean there was nothing that i needed to do anymore.

I have a hard time believing that anyone shows up to an event just to look at the space. In fact, the space is arbitrary, and the draw is the art and the artists themselves. These spaces can serve as opportunities for more artists to get their work out there, which can in turn nurture a more diverse art community.

I think that true art is an expression of the artist, whether it challenges norms or not. Great article Joey. I feel pop up shops in Jacksonville are nothing but positive. If you take the idea that art must challenge political and social norms then street art and graffiti would be the main forms of art that do this since they are seen most often by the common man where art in galleries is usually seen by a few.
