Installation artist, Matt Allison will be exhibiting a new body of work at Opaq gallery, with an opening reception this Wednesday during art walk. The show entitled “I love her, She loves me” will be my first stop at art walk, and if you know Matt’s work, it will be your first stop too. Do not miss this one.
Here’s the press release:
4 Comments »Opaq is pleased to present Matt Allison’s debut exhibit, “I Love Her, She Loves Me.” Matt’s work is a provocative blend of media, ranging from the humble and discarded material of life, a grape-fruit peel, a scrap of animal fur, a shredded snakeskin, to the glorified and venerated symbols of
Catholic iconography, religious paraphernalia, and mythology. Matt’s work explores our relics and remains, the ways in which we see our past, and they way we look to our future. With over seventy pieces, this installation is a unique sensory and aesthetic experience, but also, an emotional and intellectual one. It probes us, perhaps even reminds us, of the possibilities and the impossibilities of our own memories: how might they
be created, preserved, and transformed?
