Churchwell Lofts brochure
Download brochure here
We found this brochure on the Metro Jacksonville message board late last week. Message boardc discussion on the lofts begins here and goes on for about a page and a half.
Here is what Downtown Vision has to say a bout the project:
Plans have been proposed to convert the Churchwell Building at the corner of Bay and Market Streets into 21 loft apartments with retail space on the first floor. The units are expected to range from 900-1400 square feet and sell for between $300,000 and $400,000. Total estimated investment: $8,600,000.

So far we have 17 people signed up for next Saturday’s Spring Cleaning in Springfield. We hoped more people would’ve signed up by now, but maybe, as all people do, they are waiting until the last minute. So here is what we know so far:
- 17 people are signed up
- Uncommon Grounds Cafe will be bringing muffins and coffee
- SRG and Ark Lawn service are bringing trucks & trailers
- Daniel Blanchard is trying to secure safety vests for us all. Tight!
- Tony shouted us out on his blizzog
- We are already planning cleaning event for first the weekend in April. It will be in Klutho Park in preparation for Designs on Springfield. We are thinking
Klean up in Klutho
Protect Springfield!

JAXCAT screenshot
Going to the Main Library to check out a book, only to find it either isn’t available or someone else has checked it out is a real bummer. Well no more! Get smart and start using JAXCAT.
JAXCAT is the online card catalog that allows you to search for library titles without leaving your kitchen. No more riding Downtown only to find someone from Mandarin checked out your copy of Cell.
Note: JAXCAT works with any library branch.

Riverwalk haters
The folks at Park Lane Condominiums Association are not happy about the planned continuation of the Northbank Riverwalk that will eventually stretch to Memorial Park in Riverside. The group has made their concerns known to the mayor’s office and feels that continuing the Riverwalk would have an adverse effect on the historic buildings along the river.
This blurb was in the Jax Daily Record and it is the most retarded, anti-Jacksonville thing we have heard all week. The Northbank Riverwalk, or any portion of Riverwalk for that matter, is the tasty crust of our river’s lucious pie filling. Who doesn’t like pie? Everyone loves pie, right? Except the pie-crust haters at Park Lane Condos.

Polaroids from Two Dogs Approached
Here are a few photos from last Friday’s gallery openings. Two Dogs Approached
opened at SEESAW in Springfield and Deepressionist
opened at Boomtown, downtown.
Two Dogs Approached photos
Deepressionist photos here and here
We were not able to attend the Deepressionist show but we did get to see Two Dogs Approached
. The show was decidedly intellectual with not much to look at. Probably our least favorite show in the Final Friday series.
While the photos were gritty and at times compelling they just demanded too much from the audience. Immediate accessibility and general appeal were definately lacking in the show. Many of the pieces required the audience to read and process the meaning of the work. We have to say the show WAS inspired and we respect what the artists were trying to accomplish, but it was just too much for a lazy blogger at the end of the week.
