This week Larry Hannan at The Florida Times-Union reported the possibility of Amtrak re-establishing a route between Orlando and New Orleans that would pass through Jacksonville. The CSX-owned route was damaged when Hurricane Katrina hit it in 2005. Amtrak hasn’t supported the new idea because of low ridership before Katrina.
